Gotta plug the USA in here again, we're outnumbered...

Evansville, Indiana--home of the P-47 (the ones with RE in the designation, like P-47D-30-RE), and about half of the LSTs used during the war.

Hi Athena, if you go to both the links below you should be able to find directions.

Duxford http://www.iwm.org.uk/duxford/index.htm

Duxford is just south of Cambridge, so if you travel west briefly on the A14, then A11 and then A505 you'll get straight there - if you're only north of Newmarket then it only looks a 25 mile drive ( only a 30-45 min drive?)

Hendon & Cosford  http://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/

Cosford is on the west side of Birmingham, near to Telford so it's quite a drive and a little awkward.  If you travel all the way west on the A14 until it joins on the M6.  Follow the M6 on the north Birmingham ring-road and then join the M54 at Junc 10A.  RAF Cosford is just off Junc 3 - follow signs for museum.  It's probably about 150 miles.

Hendon is similar route to Duxford.  Follow A14, A11, M11 (south) until M25 London ringroad - take M25 West to Junc 23 and take A1 South into London.  Hendon is about 8-10 miles south.  Overall it's about 80-85 miles.

Incidently, if you carry on the M25 for one more Junction (Junc 22) you will find the De Havilland Aircraft Heritage Centre http://www.dehavillandmuseum.co.uk/index2.html and http://www.aeroflight.co.uk/mus/uk/dehav/mosqmus.htm

Here's you'll find the Mosquito prototype, a couple more Mossies and other DH aircraft.  This is actually where the prototype was built!

Enjoy!

Ack-ack I went to CSUSB for a couple of semesters back in the 80's. I was gonna finish a second major in Chemistry, but decided I would rather have a life.
