I've been told that the window and peice of bent metal on the bottom of the Stuka can be used to aid in dive bombing.

My question is, can it be used for that, and how?

I've never noticed that before so I don't know if you can us it to aid in dive bombing.  I just use the same gun sight I use in the P-38 that's both an A2A and A2G sight.  Some Stuka's used to have dive angle indicators on the left side of the canopy that the pilot use to aid in dive bombing.

in pilot position (F1)  if u press, at same time "8"+"0" (do not forget to have the numlock on hehehe)
u will find what u are looking for between the pedals.

u can also use zoom or cursor's arrow to approach the small below window.

unfortunately that window is covered by the bomb so u can see quite notthing until have dropped it.
it's not servants at all before, during an so after a drive.

i have read that most of stuka, bombing in drive, had a
trolley that drops the bomb sending it away from the
nose-propeller.
the trolley was adjustable beeing able to auto-drop the bombs as the plane had arrived at a fixed altitude so the pilots had to look after only at drive without mind when  exactely drop
....so i think...
the window was used to manage the trolley and the bombs
but i'm not sure of this
