Terrain change request
« on: May 26, 2003, 05:55:44 PM »
Ok, I like the way we keep the same terrain for a week.  That's what the majority of folks wanted and it lets us enjoy our favorite terrain for at least a week.

But, the postions on the map aren't rotating!  For example, if country X has the south position on a map before the reset, they keep the same position after the reset.  It would be good if we rotated through the three terrain positions.

On AKDesert, it's not too important, but on all the other terrains, the fight flows to the south.

Oh, one terrain observation.  My favorite terrain is SFMA; my second favorite is Trinity.  Last week we were on Trinity and just as I took off flying one of Lazs favorite missions (to pork fuel), my wife asked me to run to the store.  I put my pony on autoclimb, full military power and jumped in my truck.  I returned 15 minutes later and my position was perfect to attack the base.

Guys, I like strat stuff, but this is less than optimal.

Well Curly it's not fair to get in the truck, go to the store, get your stuff, come back, park it, unload it, walk in and say "Here ya go Honey" sit down and pork our fuel.

If you insist on doing something boring, the least you could do is sit through the whole boring ordeal.

Grab a Lag 5 and come on down for a tussel. She won't ask you to go to the store if your hair is on fire..

People talk when you do..

"Jeez did you see that guy at checkout with a couple of artichokes and his hair on fire ??" "His cube of butter is all over my leg for cripes sakes.."

I agree Curly.  Last night all the countries ended up in the same place after the reset.  I have notice this in the past, and had posted this some time ago, that the random placements seem to follow the same pattern.   I would prefer it to follow a set pattern to give each country a different area each reset.

I agree.
The biggest problem earlier was that some map might not change for 2-3 weeks. This is an improvement, but also goes to wrong direction since now winning the map is less tempting that earlier.

Possible solutions:
-Keep the old system but ALSO reset manually each Friday.
or
-Only map change on Fridays, but winning the map causes countries to rotate.
or
-Best solution IMO would be some kind of counter for the map. If it has not been won in certain time, it would reset on its own...

I think country placement on the maps is randomized, but remember there are only 6 possible setups.

Might be nice for HT to code in only 5 possible setups, always discounting the previous setup.

I have not seen the countries switch places since this new system began. I presume the randomizer is switched off...

Going to the store is a unique and excieting way to spend the time needed to gain that optimal position for riskless pony fuel porking... far too excieting for most building battlers tho... most should stick with painting the kitchen and then watching the paint dry.   Too much strain on the heart can be bad.

Ah, there ya are. :)  Actually, it isn't riskless.  A 10k pony with 2 500 pounders & 6 rockets can easily kill all fuel at a small field -- but will he live?

Typically, you attack a field which hosts the attack on one your fields.   Usually, there are numerous planes around at various altitudes.  And of course, if you get too low/slow, the ack will clean your clock.

Usually, I don't drive to the store while I am climbing towards the field - instead, I crochet those pink codpieces that you and Toad prefer for formal evening wear.
