A fine list for sure.

On mine I'd put:

Metallica: Master of Puppets

Metallica: Ride the Lightning

AC/DC: Highway to Hell

GnR: Appetite for Destruction

Ozzy: Ozzmosis

Rob Zombie: Hellbilly Deluxe

There are a few others I'd mention, but I dont think they fall into the category of "metal."

Nirvana: Nevermind

Pearl Jam: Ten

Alice in Chains: Jar of Flies

Richard Wagner- Der Ring des Niebelungen

VPO, assorted soloists, Sir Georg Solti.

Talk about heavy metal! Lots of Tubas, Trombones, and french horn.

This has to rate as the oxymoron of oxymorons. That's like "the best way to die a slow painful death". There ain't one.

Led Zepplin was a Blues/Rock band, although they invented the sound most metal groups tried to copy.

Go dig out Genesis' album "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" and then cue up "Back in New York City"... remember to crank it up loud. Then realize that song was cut back in 1971.

Geez, Gabriel-era Genesis was awesome.  I epsecially love Trespass and Selling England By The Pound.  Of course, Gabriel's solo albums are brilliant, I liked Security the best.
