It also comes with a neat little program called speedup which automatically and constantly searches for more users to download from.

WinMX does the same thing.... and doesn't contain spyware either.

So are there any real differences between the two programs?

You can only get what the other person is sharing and at their speeds in both of the programs. Niether have spyware, and neither truly optimize download speeds... if you want to enhance your connection use MTUspeed or something along those lines to tweak it.

Broadband DSL is usually fixed at around 1492 mtu size. Not much you can do there unless you have a nonstandard ISP provider running larger MTU sizes.

if you are running cable you aren't hurting your bandwidth to share.

Not true. Skuzzy has an interesting post in the connection forum about it. Apparently as soon as you connect to a file sharing program (and have share enabled), your connection continues to get hammered even when the program is shut down. For days afterward. This affects online gaming performance.

Guess it randomly effects different users because I use Kazaa Lite all the time and have never had problems with connectivity in online games even AH.  Hell I have even been downloading stuff while flying and netstat/variance are flat, even asked guys in my squad if I was warping at all and not a single one noticed anything out of the ordinary.

I've played around with MX and it's basically the same as Kazaa. The main difference is the fact that waaay more people use Kazaa, so the odds of finding what you're looking for are that much better with Kazaa. Thus, I never did see any point in using MX.
