Antique Gun Question
« on: June 03, 2003, 06:04:08 AM »
My dad was watching a show last night called "Million Dollar Guns" on the history channel and his gun was on there.  Its a Colt Pocket Model Paterson Revolver, 28 caliber.  500 were made in 1837.  Its been in a bank deposit box since ~1950.

So this morning my dad asked him to find a place to 'authenticate' the gun, and to 'clean it up'.  Where would I even begin, a gun-store?

Try a gentleman by the name of Jim Supica, with Old Town Station. His telephone number is 913-492-3000. He is a client of mine, and is very knowledgable about antique firearms.

Good luck!

Call the NRA and they can provide a list of people either in your area or within a reasonable area to authenticate the weapon.  I also suggest that you have it documented that the weapon belongs to your father and document the serial number and such.  I would also consider having it insured.
I regret doing business with TD Computer Systems.

be careful about "clean it up".. even removing rust could hurt the value.

A patterson could be worth as little as $8,000 or less and as much as $65,000 or more depending on condition and model.
