Bomber gunner help
« on: June 03, 2003, 08:35:09 PM »
Hello all... New to the sim here. Have a question that may have a simple answer. Maybe you can help. A buddy and I are trying to multi-crew a bomber, but for some reason, when either him or I hit the join button and select the other person name, were not getting an "accept or decline" box.  Which in turn doesnt allow us to multicrew. Any thoughts?

try this: in the radio text buffer, type .join buddyname

where buddyname is the guy you are trying to join, and make sure the gunner joins the pilot. should work. another thing is to make sure you have the option enabled to see join requests, its in setup...somewhere

Also, when joining make sure the pilot is in the pilots seat when the gunner initially joins. Not positive but I think if you join and the pilot is in a gun position, you'll just be observing.

If you join while the pilot is in a gun, he can't return to his pilot's seat to fly the plane!  :)  I think the guns won't fire also.  Only way out is for the gunner to unjoin (click on Tower on clipboard or type .unjoin [GameID] in text buffer) and then rejoin with the pilot back in his seat.

If a pilot receives a request while in the gun position, it is possible to return to the cockpit before accepting it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm at work right now so I will have to try later today.

Re: Bockko    I skimmed over the setup menus a few nights ago but didn't see anything that I thought pertained to this feature. Would you be refering to the Area Settings menu? I suppose I should look again, paying more attention to what you suggested, ie. See Join Requests

Just a thought. Is there a compiled list of all the commands one can enter in the chat box? I glanced throught the website  and help docs but didn't see anything. Somethinglike:

I type        :      .join FlyBoy
He types :      .accept Packard

Thanks again for the help. Sorry I got long winded.

The HTC download page has a manual you can get, about 4.5Mb in size, that has a list of most 'dot commands' along with other aspects of the game, ie map reading, radio tuning etc.
It's not complete though but has most of the important ones.

i did a quick look, didn't see the option I thought I would see. Perhaps that option is on the squad page for not seeing squad invites?? Anyway, when you type .join bhsdlksdjlkjlkjlk the person you are joining should get a popup window that can be clicked for accept/reject.

If memory serves correctly the .accept command is for joining a squad after being invited.  With all of the various responses you guys should be good to go...next subject should be something like "how do you deal with hordes of pesky fighters?" :)

The dot commands can be found  here.  I think what you are referring to, bockko, is the option to have Join Requests appear in the text buffer rather then the (default) pop-up window.  This is done by typing .showjoin 0 or 1 - I can never remember which is which, but orange text will confirm where Join Requests will show, so if the wrong option is indicated, try the other number.  This has to be set every time you enter the arena.  :)

Well, my friend and I got online lastnight and tried all of your suggestions. We finally tried using the '.accept ' command and it worked. So, for those of you who may have trouble multicrewing a bomber because you don't see the "Accept/Decline" box appear, just use the '.accept' command.

Thanks for all of your input. Very helpful  :)

BUT....   We did notice something rather interesting. When we multicrew,  lets say for instance in an A-20, either of us can't the others tracer fire. IE... He can't see my tracers when I shoot from the turrent while he pilots and I can't see his tracers when he fires the fixed-forward guns. However, we can see the tracers when we solo and from all other planes. Checked setup for anything but nothing. Any ieas on this?
