hey, i still fly it almost all the time, i don't know what you're talking about.

And Tac spends all his time in the wooden Mossie becuase he spends all his free time shining up my P-38 and painting kills on it, he has no time to even clean his own, much less fly it  :D so he flys the wooden wonder with the tail of steel

Nope, yer not alone.....xBat scolded me the other day for shooting a fellow P38, even tho I was just taking her up for a peaceful test flight and he flew in front of my guns  :D
Not sure why, I just don't feel as at ease in the bird, what with the shaking you get as you are diving on a target....I've gone faster in a dive in the Jug, and not had the shaking nearly as bad.
Yup, even ole "Twin Engine" Tac can be found at the controls of the Mossie nowadays, "seems" the Mossie retains E better (at least from what I can tell), has Buzz Lightyear armament (guns reach to infinity and beyond), and is just plain cool!
Personally, I love the Mossie.....both as a ride and as an opponent.  If you're patient and in a ride with decent speed, all ya gotta do is be patient and you WILL get yer man.....some guys seem to think if it has RAF roundels and is a fighter, it will automatically turn like a Spitfire.......those are the guys I get kills of the most.........even when I am in my trust D30, Mossie is nice killable target....
So, let the P38 fans fly the Mossie all they want......I need the kills!

I still fly the 38 a lot, it just sickens me to see its porkness, specially in the dive flaps.

P-38 is an Boom and Zoom fighter (though mainly its Boom and Boom *G*), the Mossie is Boom & Turn.

A mossie will eat a 38 easily as long as it doesnt follow 38 into vertical.

A 38 will eat a mossie if it gets it into the vertical.

Plus, the 4 20mm's make it the greatest N1kQualizer ever! I LOVE IT.

Damn.. just noticed this is LAZER posting, not LAZS! All right kiddo, LATRINE DUTY for the next week! And dont get near my mossie! Or my 38! Ya heah?? Go back to your jugs and ponys! Baaaaa!  :D  :D  :D  :D

Well I took a P-38 to flight: In first flight 3 kills and in second 4 kills.
Right now I have 11:0 k/d ratio in P-38.

There's nothing wrong in it.

Even though I am new in this game I have to say I love the 38. All I fly unless I use a 17 or 26. I love hittin the flaps on the deck at 180mph and flippin the 38 in a tight turn.

Yesterday I was by myself right off the deck. Maybe 2000. As we all know 2K ft is not the best alt for a 38. Specially one going under 250 with 2 51s on my 6. Well the three of us did the circle of death dance all over the place for around a minute plus. No I didn't shoot em down but I managed to out fly em and stay alive. Some may not count this as a victory but I do.

One other time is my only true 1 v 1 kill yet. Me vs a solo Spit. Right off the deck. He was on my 6 and around 800 away. To close for comfort I would say. It was at this moment I learned of the joy of flaps. Hit 3 slots of flaps and I actually out turned a Spit. He stayed in the turn with me and I managed to stay right at the point when my stall buzzer was going nutz. Well before I knew it I turned long enough and hard enough that all of a sudden I say that Spit clear as day sitting right in my sights at 250. All I know is before I knew it I was watching a Spit minus one wing and losing oil make the very short dive right into the ground.

Well sorry to rant. Just I am new to the game and everyone I have met have been most helpful and the game is so so much fun.

See yall in the skies. The dot at 32K alt is me. Love loading drop tanks and sittin up there for an hour. I WILL GET A 262 KILL WITH MY 38!!!

lol fools!

the P-38L still has the same FM, but its damage model was changed. Its MUCH thougher than the Mossie. I still havent lost an engine in the P-38L during a dogfight; and Ive had a few fights where ive been leaking radiator and engine oil on BOTH engines. The P-38 is better than it has ever been.

Only times Ive lost a fight against a mossie is getting vulched, or in those big furballs when you have 5 guys after you when they see your name in the buffer.

Why would a good P-38L pilot lose a fight against a mossie really puzzles me. You guys suck really bad, Tac, you have a P-38L squad, get the diddly to the hangar and start flying it again. I AM A DARN FDB, I could be flying Niks all day, and I still think the P-38 is much better, and I prove it every day.

heheh bigshot, wtG!

IMO I'm not satisfied with a fight unless it was me vs 3+ and I get at least 2 kills before they bellybutton rape my poor plane

I can actually sympathize with tac on this one...  the F4U in WB's was/is so porked that it sickened me badly enough that I just didn't fly it even though  I really am fond of the planes.   Eventually, I just left the sim when something else came up.

...and that is why you see Animal's p-38 engaging on 3 vs him when his enemies are the Deadly Lancaster, the Infamous TBM and the Murderous Ju88.

Anything else kills him in 1 pass, that doofus still hasnt learned to raise gear.  :D  :D

sheesh. I aint been on much in over a month due to RL stuff but I got on for a few hours. I heard all the chatter about the P-38 so I grabbed one after trying out the Hurricane IIc for most of the night. One flight and even I can get four kills?? Turning and burning mind you too. Well except for the little participation in a 4 way gang bang on a Spitfire <g>. But aye carumba! PERK THE P-38!!!!!!!!  ;)

Mosquitto

--------------------

I dont see how you guys do so damned well in the p38, i flew it several times this weekend and i done no good. Well that pretty normal for me so i wont rag on it to badly  :D

It compresses Soooooooooo easily, stalls just as bad. BUT if you get behind someone, they die period. That shot patern is friggin awesome.

Ive seen some of you p38 jocks do some stuff in that plane that just blew my mind, after flying it for a few days it further impresses me.

how the heck do you guys make it flip like you do? i tried several things and i couldnt figure it out. the dive breaks are seemingly useless, i couldnt find a use for them..

None the less you p38 jocks have true skill, hats off to you all.
