the Vulcan is a great looking plane! Futuristic for its time. I saw a static one at the RAF Museum in Hendon.

I remember they interviewed a B24H pilot about shooting the cannon in the bomb bay and he said it felt like the plane was coming to a sudden halt every time they fired it because of the recoil.

There's a gun camera film clip, in color, that I've seen in WW2 movies from time to time.  It shows a Japanese freighter at sea and you can see machine gun tracer fire bouncing around, then a huge splash just short of the hull, then some more machine gun fire, and then a big wallop and explosion amidships.  That was the bombbay cannon scoring a direct hit!  Very impressive display of firepower.
