Just listened to the whole album.

What a letdown.

The production sounds like a stoner rock demo ala:  KYUSS doing KORN b-sides.

Well there's still hope for metal. A new Prong and Iron Madien album are due out soon along with a new Slayer album with the orginal lineup again.

I like it..
much less 'produced' sounding.. more like garage band type energy.. good change IMO

give it time

I got it  yesterday, mainly because of the Metallica show they aired on MTV this weekend. The show rocked,it was the onslaught Metallica used to be known to deliver live. They played their old stuff, and Hetfield screamed like a mofo as he should, instead of trying to sing, what he made himself belive he can.

Anyways..the new CD...well ,actually it's no letdown.I learnt no to have any high expectations when it comes to new metallica albums. It's fast and heavy, but it sounds just like the bands that are around nowdays.I dunno why the gotto copy korn,POD,Incubus etc.  They even copied the "no guitar solo" policy, that's going on in today's rock. That sucks big time..I love solos, and Kirk Hammet could pull out some really good ones. But no,they have to follow......sigh

OTOH it's not that bad.I think after Hetfield's rehab experience he has things to be pissed off about again, and it shows in the music he makes.
It won't be my fav,but it'll make me wanna go to their show when the play here.

No guitar solos on the whole album? :(

I had hoped St. Anger (the song) was just an anomaly in that respect.

Did kirk quit the band too, and forget to tell everyone?
