Compression and prop pitch (again)
« on: August 06, 2000, 03:09:00 PM »
How can I edit the title of my posts, I meant to say "Compression and engine sound pitch"
----
I really hope HT can build some pre-compression behavior into the FMs.

I think a percieved onset of vibration before
actual compression would go a long to giving us the necessary feedback to better handle our powerdives

Also, having the engine sounds vary in pitch with prop load would add to the realism!

Pitch of an engine is dependent on RPM.

But sure the character of an engine sound changes as you change load.

Also the prop makes some noise of its own, and that certainly varies with load.

It might be cool to have a seperate blower sound.  On DB engines the blower speed is independent of engine speed.  And on the planes with two speed blowers, it would be cool to hear that thing shift when you reach a certain altitude.

Listen closely to your engine
Adjust the RPM. Hear the change in the engine.  Then adjust MAN you can hear a different change.
1 does intensity the other volume of the engine
