Had a couple of fights with you BK's tonight.
First one was a furball over 129 (I think) a real mess and after an F6F (prolly Drex) shot one of my engines out Hooligan nailed the coffin shut as I was going after a formation of B26's. Never saw him.

Second one I was still in the 110 half way between 146 and 129 when JB42 encountered Drex in his much feared F6F. Unfortunately 42 missed his shot and ran into trouble fast. I was lagging behind 42 on the climbout so 42 was in a chute before I could help him. Lost sight on Drex and blew most of my alt advantage before reacquiring him. I knew I couldn't turn with him since I still had 90% fuel in the tanks and was way heavier and more underpowered compared to his F6F, so after a few moves trying to get a snap shot I extended to about d2.2 and turned. We merged again and I failed to get a snapshot on him, and that was that. Too low on E to get out of .50 cal range, and too heavy to fight. He promptly shredded my 110.
The third encounter was over 146 where us Rooks had been capping the field for a while and were just waiting for the goon to fly the troops in. I had switched to the 109 and was barrel climbing to get some alt when woe and behold here comes an F6F screaming in high ... great. I had lost my rudder and an aileron to flak and Drex had alt on me. However he went after another Rook to the NE allowing me to climb up his six ... along with five or six other Rooks capping the field. I was slowly closing the gap, and at about d2.0 he turned into us, real ballsy ... stoopid but ballsy

. After a 20-30 second brawl he went down missing a tail, complements of another Rook.
In this third encounter I had no real chance to stay with his turn reversals due to my damaged plane, but it did give me a chance to study this F6F pilot who Lazs called "not very good, but sorta fun to fight". Obviously not the greatest tactician (

), but he flew that F6F like a headen God! Very impressive indeed. I then knew that Drex is not the usual breed of F6F drivers who can be tricked easily.
The fourth encounter was over 161 after we had captured 146. I came in at 20K in my 109 searching for prey, and soon spotted the furball mess below. There were all kinds of red planes down there, but a single F6F stood out from the pack ... hmmmmm. Confident in my position above the furball I dived on the F6F that was moving away, carefully trimming the 109 for high speed. As I fell on him he quickly turned left and I though I was left with only a snapshot opportunity, but Drex made a mistake, he reversed his turn too early in his attempt to get a departing tail shot on me. One mistake is all I need I thought as I raked his F6F from nose to tail. Down he went missing several parts. I quickly ran into trouble after that and practically dragged a horde of various planes around a few turns before an F4F got me.
The fifth and last encounter so far was also over 161. Coming in at 20K I dived on a 109, but he ran for ack cover so I broke of that chase. I turned my attention on an F4U that was slightly above me and in the process of reducing another Rook to so much aluminum confetti, I closed in to d400 and as he broke off his attack I started mine. Knowing the wings are rather weak on the F4U all it took was 6-7 rounds of 20mm and I was again looking for prey, then I saw an F6F lurking low over by the field and turned towards him. He was heading my way and I had a slight alt advantage of about 2K feet. As we closed to the merge he dove a bit and picked up speed ... that should have been my first clue. As the F6F passed underneath me I put my wings 90 degrees on the horizon and turned to fall on him, but he zoomed up behind me and now I realized my mistake ... I had speed, but he was close and had those .50 cals of his pointing my way. I tried to disengage, but to no avail. Tail and wing missing, down I go. I will not make that mistake next time Drex (at least I will try not too

).
I had fun tonight.
BK's, I look forward to future encounters.
