Same here! Hey, it might even be safe for me to show up, although my insurers would void my policy - LOL. Would like to have met MiniD and Creamo.

Most I recognize from AH Scenarios and TOD/Squadops.

Now granted - most of them tend to also be EX-AW Pilots - but they DO FLY AH.

Not to put too fine a point on it, there at least 30 guys on that list that have been playing Aces High under the same callsign since 2001.  Of those 30 or so, at least 9 have been playing under the same callsign since the year 2000.

Using Jordi's list as it appears for "name recognition" purposes, there are 38 players on it that have been playing the game since before Tour 30 (07-03-02 to 08-05-02), which is the earliest Tour in which I can find a score for...doesn't matter. :)

I cannot account for changed callsigns, of course, since I am using Jordi's list as is (of the callsigns as they appear on the list, 29% had no data to retrieve).

29% no data (some callsigns on the list I recognized as different from in-game, but resolved to use Jordi's list as it appears)

13% since the year 2000

26% since the year 2001

29% since the year 2002

3% this year (2003)

for what it's worth:)

(of course the most enthusiastic '03 Con attendee, Hawklore, flys H2H thus has no data)

And for what its worth... I still don't recognize many.

But then most being new since 2002 seems new to some... not so new to others.

Still seems like an old AWers con more than an AH con.  I can think of 5 rather large squads that have been around since the start of the game with zero representation there.  I wonder how many cons there have been where that's been the case.

MiniD...it appears that you are hinting that as the FDBs are not attending it isn't a "real" con?

It must be great to be as cool as you guys....one day (sigh)..one day.

for what it's worth my first tour with stats was tour 25 (Feb 2002) and i never played another flight sim before this ;)

my CO on the other hand JB42... he flew AW for a long time and came here in what seems to be tour 21 (Dec 2001)

our squad (Jabostaffel) is over 4 years old im told by JB42.
I don't know what to put here yet.

Not hinting... and nothing to do with the FDBs.  If the con doesn't advertise free chicken wings at the bar, its doubtfull fdbs will show.

Look through the list curval, and see if you can find 4 or 5 other large squads that have zero representation.

Alot of newer squads there, no older ones.

What I'm saying is that alot of the changes in the arenas in the past year are reflected by the con attendance.  Its sad to see for anyone that's been here since the beta days.

Well, in a way that signals progress.

I'm disappointed there isn't more O'Club posters.

In this buisness... progress also involves relationships with old customers as well as new.  I can't help but wonder if one set has been alienated.  I wanted to go to the con, but I looked at the list and didn't see anyone familiar.  I decided not to go as a result.

I'm also sure a number of other factors have come into play like the economy and so forth... so no real accustions or criticisms.... just an observation.

I know that when I hosted the AW CON in 2000 - of the 170+ attendees - for almost 1/2 the 2000 CON had been thier FIRST CON.

Yes it meant that some people who had been to many CON's before did not make it because of the locale - but it also meant there was a fresh new crop of people who after they experienced thier FIRST CON were already planning to attend the next no matter where it was.

Catch 22 - no matter where it is hosted. Yes a contingent from and or near TX will not attend - but many more first timers will be exposed to what a CON is all about - and if it is in TX next year - they may try to attend where they may not have tried in the years before.

I'm all for 1/2 the people at the con being new.  I just wish the other half weren't all new too.

You are being your usual observant self. I see exactly what you're talking about. Been wondering about the alienation thing myself.

I don’t think it’s a slight on HTC’s  part at all, I think there is just a lot of AW peoples in that list as well as new players, which is to be expected. That fact was noted.

What MiniT was saying is the list excluded a lot of old school AH players if you will, from Beta. I think Jordi missed the point. Sure you see these names in scenarios, now, but 1 or 2 cons ago they were pry in AW.

That, and the location would have a lot to do with squad participation in that the fat gay bastards for instance, like Fatty, Gordo, Sling etc… were Dallas area based. Not sure how you came to that conclusion Curv about “being cool” and whatnot, but you got the idea.

If the last con had 120, and this approaches that number, it really doesn’t matter. Just have the cams running, take some photos, have a blast, and although Ill be on vacation, I can’t wait to get back and hear the whines from the evil con mission.
