Gunsights (pipers)

Question for the community?????  Is there a program to make custom guns sights or is there a location that would have pre-fabed gunsights other then what Aces High offers in their library:)

You can easily creater 2 256 color .BMP files:

Gunsight.bmp - one 128x128 image containing the COLOUR of the gunsight

and

Gunsight_alpha.bmp - 128x128 image containing the transparency of the image.

A dot that is red (255, 0, 0) in Gunsight and white (255, 255, 255) in _alpha will show as a solid red dot

A dot that is blue (0, 0, 255) in gunsight and gray (127, 127, 127) in _alpha will show as a semi-transparent blue dot.

Save bpth images to the \sights subdirectory of your Aces High folder.

Easiest is to d/l some Gunsights and modify em. In AH select the "Gunsight.bmp", not "Gunsight_alpha.bmp", which will be automatically loaded.

Has anybody made a "Mudflap Girl" gunsight yet?  It would certainly be more entertaining than a series of dots and dashes...

Send me an email and I will send you a nice single pipper (alpha).

Dot is yellow and somewhat tranparent and the surrounding transparency around the yellow dot is in red. Excellent for use in both AH daytime and nightime. Works great on an Osty also.

Ok, I'm in the process of making my MudFlapGirl gunsight.  The original image is a white silhouette on a black background.

If I want the background to be transparent but to have the girl visible, what colors do I need them to be?  I think the girl in black or red and the background in white?  Is this correct?

Yes ... the "alpha" bmp is black and white (graysclae).

Pure white, and all color from the other bmp will show thru, pure black and no color will show.

Varying shades of white to gray determine the amount of color that will "bleed" thru. The _alpha bmp of the sight MUST be saved as "grayscale".

I finished the MudFlapGirl-Gunsightv2 and sent it to your email.  Hope you like it.  I also included 2 drum loops that you might get a kick out of.  I used "levee" to replace the stock "treads" sound on GVs and it made those long trips a bit more tolerable. :)

If anyone else wants it, shoot me an email at nascargofaster@yahoo.com .

<--- sample to the left (today only).  The pink background will be transparent when used in the game.

Here are the files for my gunsight ...

DEFAULT.BMP

DEFAULT_ALPHA.BMP

Load both into your \sights directory (rename your original default.bmp first). You always select the xxxxx.bmp in SETUP, not the xxxxx_alpha.bmp
