There is no such thing as an amicable divorce not requiring a lawyer.

When in doubt, seek counsel.  Better safe then sorry

Gotta Chime in here....having had several guys under me get divorces...some their own fault but others not...one piece of advice.....

GET AN ATTORNEY!

Seriously....trust me when I say that you can go into a divorce (messy situation at best) with all the right intentions...and WHAM the other party slaps some crap on you that you thought was innocent, harmless, or just plain stupid....and what do you have to say for yourself?  NOTHING!

GET AN ATTORNEY!

I dont like divorces, attorneys, all that messy crap....BUT  attorneys do have their place and trust me your spouse probably already has one!

GET AN ATTORNEY!

TRUST ME ON THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

aren't your in-laws about half the world away from your mother? (i think thats what you said a few months ago)  if so block their number from calling in and move on.  words are just words and don't mean crap.

and as mentioned above GET A LAWYER.

divorse is messy and almost without exception they all get messy.  if the person you where divorsing is reasonable and cosiderate you'd probably not be divorcing them.

I've seen alot of divorces and who ever try's to be the reasonable one gets screwed.

get a lawyer, and try to take everything.

Having been through one of those wonderful life experiences where everyone around you looks at you like you are insane and then you finally realize that they may be right.....:)

Get an attorney
The first offer on the table is probably going to be the best even though you think the world has ended, believe me, it will probably be the best most amicable way to end the insanity, after going through five yes 5, years of the wonderful world of lawyers, who literally don't give a crap, and why should they if you are going to pay them, and an ex who couldn't let go of controlling the whole thing to the point of all the lawyers looking at you as if you were crazy being married to her lol, I actually dream about signing the first papers and having it end.....

I don't envy you because it was the most painful aggravating thing I ever experienced, but if you have a chance to end it quick, do it, because it will cost you a fortune if you don't....

Good luck

It's a shame to have to pay thousands of dollars to an attorney to fight over hundred dollar pots and pans.  You are going to lose out no matter what, so you may as well let her have it instead of some lawyer and hopefully have the actual split a little more amicable than full out war.

I think if you have kids, you have to have an attorney involved...at least here in CA.
