hazed I dissagree... if you get good in the furball you can pick up the limited skills need to B&Z very quickly if you don't allready have em but.... if you only know B&Z.... you got a long hard row to get good at the fur..

In the fur you are flying the entire time looking up or back and... you are close to the ground and colose to collision.  At 25K, taking your eyes off wht is in front of you for an hour or two is no big deal.

well i disagree. Pesonally I find its a lot easier to furball down low in say a spitfire or hurricane and maintain a high kill rate than it is to stay high and maintain anywhere near the same amount of kills and survive.This is especially so if Im outnumbered.Laz its no less skillfull for a player who has to fight a large number of enemy at alt than at 5k. If they are all trying to get you it can produce some fantastic fights in either situation.Some of my best remembered ones are when Im at 18k to 20k in a 190d9 and stumbling onto a squadron all flying P51d's...LOWER than me!. Trying to keep them all turning and below you, attacking and using your energy to stay above them. This to me is just as much fun as any low altitude furball (and ive had some great furballs too).I learn more about the SUBTLE use of energy in those types of engagements than in a hard turning hurricane vs nik fight where its more about tricking your oponent or using moments where you know you are out of their line of sight etc.

Both require skill. Its just a different type of skill and shock horror a different kind of fun . I enjoy it sometimes when i catch a lower group and manage to kill 3 or 4.I enjoy it when against all odds i end up surviving in a hurricane C with 3 or 4 kills fighting on the floor. Both are just as much fun as the other...I do realise though that laz, your after an arena where both types are encouraged and I have to admit theres never been a map where bases are close like you want but i dont agree when you seem to want whole areas of the game removed like bombers etc. or now its bnz flyers? come on! I like bnz. I like furballing. I dont think id rate a good furballer in AH as any worse or better than a good Bnz flyer.Both methods when witnessed being done properly are impressive.


yes simple bnz is easy but that is not how all fly it.you can make turn and burn sound simple if you describe it as 'turn inside the enemy and shoot'.It ignores all those possible situations that occour.Ive had some hard and tricky high alt fights that were just as taxing on my SA as a heavy furball was.Im missing where you think they are different or one is harder than the other.Its just different stuff.Sure some moves can be applied to the other but thats just flying a plane and shooting down planes! its all the same thing

That would be an indicator of sorts, but...

What about fans of Russian (non-La-7) aircraft?  They're going to be low because that is where they are competitive.

The same goes for Japanese aircraft.

Some British aircraft like the Hurricanes, Spitfires I and V and Mosquito are also low altitude aircraft.

The Mosquito peaks in speed at 13,000ft and that is where I normally level off.  Sometimes I go higher if I have too, but the Mossie is a dog up there.  My normal peak alt is 13k and I fight down from there, not because I dislike high altitude, but becase my chosen aircraft is a low alt tuned kite.


You're suggested numbers don't tell you what a given pilot's style is.
