Dinna know the LW had a sense of humor. Or maybe they weren't allowed to. In spite of the advanced equipment, it was a very repressive regime.

Hey, that P-38 rhyme sounds a lot like another one I heard for the P-39.. wasn't it 'Don't give me a P-39, with an engine that's mounted behind, It will tumble and roll, and dig a great hole, don't give me a P-39' or similar?

LW sure had humor too:
In one aerial-magazine were a story of a german 109 Pilot who had a bad habit to become shooted down behind the enemy lines. He was having a "MickeyMouse" painted in the side of his 109 and After second or 3.rd time he walked back to base the mechanics did paint a mouse again; This time it got a rope in its hand and it was dragging a spare boots behind him with the rope

I'll try to find that magazine and send a pic

Duma:

"And dont give me a P-39... the engine is mounted behind ..she'll tumble and spin and she'll auger you in.. dont give me a P-39!.."

I have that song in my server.. but its under upgrade now.

e-mail me if you want it.

"....and dont give me a peter four-oh..its a hell of an airplane I know.. shes a ground looping bastard and you're sure to get plastered..."

This song goes from the P-38 to the F-84.

Many of my ww2 songs can be found at the 475th's website  http://www.collectivecomputing.com/475th/ww2songs.html

The first set arent up due to some idiotic geocities policy, but they'll be up once Crosswinds finishes its upgrades.

Enjoy

2 things, some sample of those cartoons on the 56th web page at :
 http://www1.jump.net/~cs3/index.php

Now, what is bugging me a bit, is that flying a B26 I lost an engine at 15K and could fly it home easy, I would have believe the critical altitute was lower than this. Also, the plane was rolling toward the live engine, isn't it supposed to roll toward the dead engine?

Tac,

I went to your web site, I saw you guys fly (or used to fly) P38s. I got this picture of Silat/me from long time ago, may be a good addition on your Pictures page.

Thanks Frenchy! Thats a great pic! <S>

We still fly the P-38, though the squadron is on a down time now. Viking is running it until I find what account I have my Tac handle under (and HTC hasnt responded to my e-mails for the past 2 weeks!).

We shall rise once the flaps and the 38 is fixed. *grin*
