Have you ever wondered... The Church is dead against gambling, but a great advocate of marriage. And yet it could be argued that marriage is the biggest freaking gamble any of us are ever likely to take. The divorce rate in both Britain and America is something like 50% - even higher for second marriages. And then there are those marriages which end in separation, or those that continue in silent misery...
If a man marries a "woman of straw" (if I may call her that) then depending on where they live, the man stands to lose half of his assets if the marriage ends in divorce. Hell, that's an even greater gamble than if he were to liquidate half his assets, and gamble the proceeds on RED or BLACK at a single spin of the roulette wheel. At least at the roulette table he has a chance to WIN, and double his money.
Statistically, there are hundreds or even thousands of AH players who are divorced or will become divorced during their lifetime. So what do you think of the marital risk factor - are you a gambling man?
