Hi guys...The image below is reproduced from issue 24 (October 2000) of the excellent "Luftwaffe Verband" magazine - with comments from issue 25 by our own Tom Willis:(Image removed from quote.) below: the aircraft was almost certainly a Bf109T due to the length of the wing, lack of engine mounted MG/FF cannon, the square air intake, plus the nature of the equipment being tested. (image copyright: Crow/Luftwaffe Experten)The equipment was used to spray a fine mist of water at high altitude for the testing of de-icing equipment on other aircraft such as the Ju86P and Ju86R-series. Obviously because of the extreme altitude of these tests, the Bf109T was chosen as the carrier aircraft. Looking closely you can actually see a small wind-driven generator in the front of the streamlined tank that held the reservoir of water for the tests. Also, the hooked nature of the end nozzel was to prevent the water fouling the carrier aircrafts tail-surfaces
