The inflight radar is a good help for those who cannot stay online for several hours, and playability will be lost if that one goes away.
Im online somthimes just for 30 min to 1 hour at the same time and wont see me flying around half the map to look for bandits the time i spend online.
well anyway its a easy deal if it comes off those who cannot will quit and good for those who can stay online for several hours.
A system as mandoble presents might be good but it demand that some players need to send messages about bandits, and what ive seen somthimes when dar is down is not good lol

I generally log on for less than an hour and I think we could do without inflight dot dar.
Keep the bars so you can locate a fight..
but lose the artifically accurate dot-dar.

It takes a lot of the suspence out of the game, making it more 'box-like' and predictable.

I agree that we shouldn't have to spend all of our time looking for a fight, hence the bar-dar.

airguard,

What Mandoble suggests is that those "reports" are computer generated with some kind of delay. You would have a static snapshot of the current dot radar. No player input needed. That's the beauty of the system. You would have a rather blurry pic of the actual status or, if any dedicated player is manning the radar, you would have real time indications, either on bar text or RW.

Cheers,

Pepe

[edit] On sector counter, I think it is a very valid idea, only needs some common sense mods, widely suggested around here. [/edit]
