Fire still burning
« on: July 06, 2003, 01:13:52 AM »
The Mt. Lemmon fire is STILL going on. So far it has now expanded to cover over 65,000 acres or 106 square miles. Over 350 buildings/homes gone and more threatened today. The fire was 75% contained on Weds. but the winds picked up and shifted direction. Now the front side is burning and other rec areas are being cleared out. Upper Sabino Canyon is aflame and resorts to the south are being readied for evacuations. This is the worst fire of this type in this area in my memory.

Some people even wanted to cancel all 4th fireworks so they wouldn't offend those who lost property in the fire.
