Yeah, lets just have HTC waste money on porting a game over for one of the crappiest gaming platforms on the market.

Just to subject myself to further humiliation and virtual stoning. I would like to point out that there are Mac versions for CoD, BF1942, WWIIOL & Warbirds. Apparently Mac users do play these games...

I understand your wish, but am sorry to say that it is unlikely.  HTC only has two programmers and doing a Mac version of AH would nearly double their workload per version.

I believe that HiTech based much of this decision on his experiences on making WarBirds and the respective community sizes.  There just aren't enough Macintosh players to make it financially worth it.  I am not positive about this, but that is how it was related to me by other flightsim enthusists.

Wouldn't say all that crappy at the high end--but definitely waaay too expensive for what ya get, gaming wise.

Used to be a die-hard Mac guy myself, until I realized XP/cygwin had basically caught up to OSX.  At that point I could hear the cheap/fast hardware calling my name.  He will join us or die, Master.  :)

MacHead-- kinda doubt it's worth the resources for a port, sorry to say.  Only the top-end Macs will play AH2 with reasonable performance I'd think, and there just ain't enough of them.

Actually, Windows is the crappiest gaming platform. If Hitech had a UNIX, Linux and Mac version, you'd realize that.

The only reason I boot into Windows is to play AH. The PITA that is Windows is slowly making me reconsider if AH makes it worthwhile to keep Windows.

So...bring AH to FreeBSD!

Windows has nothing to do with it, as far as the gamer is concerned.  Hardware is what matters.

Compare most any game between mac & PC...the mac version runs slower with worse quality, on equi-priced machines.  Not because of MacOS, but because of slow overpriced Mac hardware.

Have you considered using cygwin?  What unix tools do you use?

I saw perfomance comparison of TargetWare on same HW on two systems - Linux/Windows...... you know what?

Linux had much better perfomance most of time......

If Microsoft wasn't monople they would have to spend much more time to bring quality product......

The operating system (XP) that by default uses 150-180Mb is not good system....

The problem now to make AH platform independent is very big IMHO..... the main problem AH uses DirectX - Mirosoft product and not OpenGL.... if they will want to move to other plantfrom - that means to rebuild all the graphics engine.

The products that are build to run on number of platforms - like TW usualy build for this from beginning and use OpenGL
