RADAR - not effective below 500 feet

Though not stated in the read.me file for 0.39, if you fly below 500ft. you will not get picked up by enemy radar.

I'm asking because sometimes I'll run a gooney bird through the canyons and I'll be at 3-4kmsl, but I'm try to keep my altitude above ground level to about 100ft

Its agl and is a host setting think i have it at 250 right now.

many thanks for that info HT.  Now the only thing needed is a radar altimeter so we can tell we're under radar coverage =)

I think it is called a RWR (Radar Warning Reciever.

For radar altimeter substitute:

1. Descend to low altitude.

2. Press 'g' key.

3. Continue descent until 'squeak' noise is heard signifying you are below radar height.

4. Press 'g' key again to turn off radar detector.

5. IMPORTANT: Maintain height.

LOLLOL glars, that'll work just fine over level ground, but not so well in the canyons where they're up and down =)

the RWR gear is to let you know when your aircraft has been 'hit' with a radar beam that is searching for you or trying to lock onto you for missle guidence.  A radar altimeter uses radio signals to tell you your height above ground level, and is usually useless over about 2500ft agl
