The trick is to fly a plane that the Spit/N1k/LA/Stang dweebs don't understand, like the Ki-61.

GoF, the problem is, the people who try to fly them can't understand them either! :D

 ..

Anyhow in my case, I'm trying out the Bf109G-6.

Always thought I was an average, decent 109 pilot, but then I seriously realized that it wasn't me who was flying decent. It was the monster plane G-10 that was doing good. :D

So I decided to start from the beginning.. by working in G-6s, learn more about 30mm gunnery.. learn more ACM and defensives against those deadly Spits or N1K2s.. learn more weenyness from the 'Bore and Zoom' guys.. :D

So far, I'm being seduced everyday to up a G-10!

Urchin,

Yeah, the La-7s and P-51s and Spit IXs and N1K2s and Spit Vs and ect, ect... can all beat the Spit I easily if they know what they're doing.  Ths Spit I is so crappy in the high speed handling that if anything gets you a little fast they can out anything you.

That said, I'm 6 and two against the Spitfire Mk IX and 4 and 1 against the La-7.

16 and 16 overall.  I'm having trouble even managing an even K/D ratio in the Spit I.

About the Mk V, I don't know if it out truns the Mk I, but it certainly out engines it.  I had one pull a yo-yo and I could follow.  He killed me.

One thing about the turning on the Spit I is that you quickly realize how important turning speed is, not just turning radius.  The Spit IX or N1K2 can't match they radius of the Spit I, but they can easily turn more degrees per second due to their higher speeds and better engines.

I kept mugging P-51s in the Spit I lol.  I think I killed 4 of them, against other spits I don't do so well because I have trouble keeping the stream of paintballs on target long enough to do any damage.

Urchin... when I get a little frustrated I grab a tempest and run down the cowardly buggers.   It is not that fun cause they lack any talent in evasives but it is fun to watch their pitiful attempts.  And it is a way to burn up useless perks.

Even if you don't get to kill em you make em all fly home running.
