Tight turns??
« on: July 08, 2003, 05:52:41 AM »
Those that know me will know my dilema, I am a GV'er by virtue of playing with a mouse, I can fly quite well but need help in the 'dogfiting' area.
I am trying to improve my 'flying skills' and believe me i need to!!

Question: When putting a kite in a tight turn what key strokes aid a tighter pull??
Dropping throttle helps but am I missing something??

Please advise so I can 'kill' you!!

Your lovingly,

Smiggyy.

Get a joystick first of all, e-mail skernsk! :)

Second, cutting throttle helps to some extent but only in high speeds. A plane will turn tighter and tighter the slower it gets up till a certain point, once that point is reached it won't turn good or at all anymore.

Dropping combat flaps in the planes that have them help too, mostly US planes has got flaps that are deployable in high speeds.

Much is just practice and experience.

If you can't afford a joystick then pick a squad that uses numbers instead of working the joystick... perhaps the MAW are recruiting?

Hs nothing to do with affording a joystick, it's just that I play at work during lunchtimes and sometimes early morning. I'm not sure my senior management would take too kindly to me sat at my desk with a joystick.

Can't play at home as at mo only on dialup and i warp too much.

Just thought someone could give me some extra tips, like I said I can fly with a mouse, pretty good, but like every1 else wanna get better.

use the best turner in the game and use your trim controls at the same time. Learn when to deploy flaps to aid you in slower turning fights.

Id suggest flying the hurricane C and learning how to avoid faster enemies then switch to something like a 190 or F4U to learn how to BNZ(not turning fighting).
this way you will learn what you can and cant do with each of the aircraft and learn where the chinks in their armour are.

Only a full knowledge of the capabilities of all the aircraft in AH you are fighting puts you in the position where you'll know what move will work against the attacker.Keep playing and you'll learn it all but try to fly ALL the types you commonly fight so you know what they can and cant do.

If your in a 190 and fighting hurri's, spits, niks then never slow down and turn with them especially because your using a crappy mouse. Hell if i were you id stick to flying bombers and driving tanks :D

Look up Tsorde. He has tons of experience flying via keyboard. He might have some tips for you. I remember seeing him get kills in furballs, so he might be the one to ask.
