I don't know how long you've had the problem you're having, or how long you've had the joystick. There are two MSW Pro sticks - 1 and 2. Mine is the earlier version. But for both sticks, you need to install the MSW version 3.02 driver software. It's about a 7MB download, and can be retrieved from the
Microsoft Sidewinder website. (Note this software is good for W95, W98 and WMe - but not W2000 and probably not WXP) Install this, and after rebooting (if called for) you get a sidewinder icon in your system tray. You can double click on this to get into the software, and you will see that there are various game profiles already set up - but Aces High isn't one of them. From the menu, you can
Add a New profile - and that's what you would do to create a profile for Aces High. It would ask you for a file source - and that's where my .SW4 file comes into play. The .SW4 file contains the preprogrammed keystrokes for all the base buttons on your stick. You could leave it as it is, in which case your base buttons will function as mine, or you can change the ones you want to change.
When you go to the MS website (link above), you will notice on that page that the drivers are designed for W95 and W98. They work for WMe as well, and that's the OS I use for Aces High. The driver software won't work properly for W2000, and may not work for WXP. That's partly because the software installs to C:\WINDOWS\... and does not provide the option of installing to C:\WINNT\... That's just about the only reason I have a WMe system for AH, instead of running it on my W2000 system. You will be told by many that you can use the drivers built into W2000, but these drivers make no provision for programming the base buttons of your stick.
That's all for now. Let me know which OS you are using, which version of the stick, and download and install that MS software for the stick. Once you've done all that, and if you're still having problems, we'll talk again.
