Er... just one question HT and Pyro ???
« on: September 15, 1999, 06:23:00 AM »
I've asked this before and didn't get an answer.

Before I sign on the dotted line I'd like to know where your servers are and what connection strategy you have... you see with a flat rate of $29.99 a month your going to have alot more people online than you will have "in the other sim"... so what's your connection strategy for dealing with these people... if I can't get a reasonable connect from the UK it doesn't matter a damn what your sim costs to play simply because I won't be able to play it... its an important question and one that hasn't been answered.

Regards

Beaz,

HT said that we could/should hitechcreations.com
for now if we want to track.

The beta will be free and last "several months",
if I remember the announcement from Pyro
correct. So if they move the server during
the beta, we will have plenty of time to
test the connection.

Found the topic: it's at

 http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/Forum1/HTML/000341.html

labelled "trace your connection".

Sascha, my traces are with a single dial-up
ISDN line.

Sascha,

use the Astrodienst in Zürich

here is the data:
Nürnberg, GER: 49n27, 11e04, Germany
(you have to type 49.27 and 11.04 in neotrace)

The URL for Astrodienst is:
 http://www.astro.ch/atlas/atlquest-eng.html

The link to it is at neoworkx:
 http://www.neoworx.com/loc/

Dancer out.
Disclaimer: I have no connection to neoworx
but I find their tool "cool" (I still use
traceroute and uotrace if I need some quick
checking   )

Got about 100 ms on a cable modem from CT.
One question - who the heck is verio.net ? and why am i bouncing on 5 addresses of the same subnet while on their backbone ?
It appears to add at least 40ms to my time...
129.250.2.XXX - 6 hops just there !!!

Verio is an ISP with...a reputation.    On another board oz checks every so often they are the equivalent of the "two weeks" joke in number of sarcastic references.

Hey Beaz!!!  Thier severs are right where they should be 6000FT from me in good ole GRAPEVINE TEXAS. My ping time are 49ms avg. We are within 30 miles of a major back bone of the internet(Dont remember the location) that is owned by GTE and Hitech Creations is about 700 ft from the GTE switching station. So connect speeds should be veeeeerrrrrryyyy Good!!!!!!
