Love this setup
« on: July 13, 2003, 11:26:31 AM »
I remember the last time this map was ran with mid to late war aircraft. I have been wishing for a while this setup would be run again.

Just wanted to say thanks Sabre. This is without a doubt my favorite setup in CT. You can't ask for a better matchup aircraft wise. I also like the fact that as a Luftwaffe guy your never sure what your going to see when that group of dots become icons. Spits, Hurri's, Typhies,P-51Bs, P-47s, F4U's F6Fs, or FM2's.   It really keeps you on your toes , and forces you to be very flexable in your tactics. I have not come across any Spit14s, which is a relief what we're fighting now has been more than enough to get me killed constantly. I havent see any 109 G10s ethier, it's probably due to where most the fighting has taken place.

I have been on vacation all week, and I have not had the chance to fly this much in some time. I usually get 3 to 5 hours a week max, if I'm lucky. I think I've been putting 5 to 6 hours a day this week, and have really enjoyed myself.

Plus I've had time to fly both the 109, and the 190. My biggest shock was how much trouble a 190 can get into with an F6F. Maybe too it was Snoopy just has my number , but he really beat me hands down twice with an F6F, while i was flying a 190A5. Anyway the planeset is great, the numbers are great both sides are usually fairley close to even. Both sides seem to be enjoying the planeset. I'm having more fun than I have in a while with AH. Thanks Sabre, CT Staff, and all you CT Pilots out there.

The real scary thing is when you see USAAF coming in WITH RAF planes ;)

Glad you like the set up, Lowe.  Marcof, sorry for the Spit-XIV... it was a very complicated set up, and it's entirely possible I forgot this one.  My internet connection's been out since Saturday morning, so I didn't see your post about the Spit-XIV until about 20 minutes ago.  I've asked the CT staff to check it, as I cannot until my cable is fixed.

I agree with Lowe on this one... I love this set up.... the only complaint I would have is the 45 to 50 minute flight to Norway from England... But this is part of the game... Seems like everyone has a ride in this that they want...

Yeah, the leathality is actually 30% below the MA, but with so many fleets around it gains leathality through density.  I believe it was Stalin who said, "Quantity has a quality all its own."

A possible tactic for the Axis is to "shadow" the Allied CV's with their destroyer flotillas, making it troublesome to climb to altitude to get the ack.  Most won't bother killing the DE flotillas, as they aren't much of a direct threat to ships with 5" and larger naval artillery.  "Sauce for the goose, Mr. Savik," as Spock would say.  Evens the odds for Axis a/c attempting to get through the CAP and kill the CV.

or drop a M8 into the drink - 10 or so hits with HE and the ships go bye bye and for whatever reason the ships do not fire on the M8, had them  cruise right by like I was invisible while I was sinkin em as fast as I could shoot
