Frustrated Joystick Problems!!
« on: July 14, 2003, 05:48:22 AM »
I have been playing for a few months now and decided to upgrade my joystick to a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2. The problem is that I cant calibrate it!  Installed and reinstalled the game as well as the software for the stick. I get massive spikes and fluctuations in both blue screens when I try to calibrate. When on the runway I get a message saying "dont move your controls so rapidly" then total loss of control! What is going on - I had better luck with my twenty dollar Logitech Stick. In the calibration mode I cant even center the + nor the rudder or throttle.  Feeling very frustrated.  I am running Windows XP with directX 9.0. Any help would be appreciated!

Sounds like conflicts - similar to probs I had with a CHPRO setup - am sure someone will be able to offer a solution.

hi jpv:

It sounds like you do not have your SideWinder controller program running while you are in Aces High. Whenever that happens to me, the stick goes "limp" and is uncontrollable in the game. You should see the SW red and green logo in your sys tray which tells you the software is running in the background.
Tinker with the "dead zone" and "range of motion" settings in the Controller, and do the tests to see that the stick is functioning properly there before you go on to calibrate in AH.
If none of this helps, check MS web site... there may be a patch for it.
 Hope this helps some.

eh?

Thanks for the input-I tried all that but it still wont work, dont know what else to try. If there is some sort of conflict maybe reformatting the harddrive will take care of it. Anybody else out there using the stick?
