Well it's been fun...

Cheerio all,
I've decided that I'm just not having fun anymore with AH.  It's the bugs are just getting on my nerves.  I'm looking forward to see what AH2 looks like and may rejoin then.  Thanks to WAX and the hellgods, you've guys have been an extended family to me.  To those I've flown with a big hearty .  Mr. Pluto, Skanky and I'm sure plenty of others, thanks for the good times.

ah2 be out soon, ussually when the i quit messages start showing up en mass a new version apears a while later. ah2 may be a different story though since its such a massive change.

i still have fun playing ah but am thinking about trying ww2ol for its tank and ground war stuff. ah gv war is fun but its lack of cover for vehicles and the vehicles limited damage model and 3d long range position bugs are getting to be a problem. ive killed one two many backwards facing tigers at long range that i know i am getting killed the same way. that and the small number of tanks is a bit limiting. perhaps a sherman firefly and a regular 75/76mm sherman would be a welcome addition for a few tanks with  eggshell armor and one with a heavy gun capable of defeating a tiger.

anyone else play ww2ol have an opinion on its gv war?
i heard its air war is nerfed though.

Dood... find a good squad...

I've long since figured out that it's not the game, it's the people I fly with.

The game quite often irritates me... the squad makes it all worth it.

"...it's not the game, it's the people .."

Absolutely.  IMO that can't be said enough.  People can wreck the experience for you, as seen by the posts of some but for some reason they feel the need to blame HTC/AH for vulches, gang bangs, lopsidedness, HO's, idiot behavioer etc etc. However "people" can most definately "make" the experience better for you as most players find out after they join a group or find thier "niche" in AH (or any other sim/game).

I shake my head somewhat when I see others tell those who're unhappy to "Come back, or wait, for AH2!"  Sorry to spoil the delusion but AH-II is not going to bring any cleansing of the arena gene pool nor make players suddenly play "your way."  The same habits you see right now are the same you will see in AH-II. And to some degree you will see todays players bring todays behavior to the TOD version also.  They'll find new means to enjoy thier new brand of "play" which will inevitably piss people off, leading to posts on the vBB.  People are seriously "high" if they think they will see some type of "hip! hip! Say what?! Cheerio! Well done ol' boy!" and white silk scarved pilots saluting an opponant from an open canopy. The facts will be seen that they'll still get gangbanged, vulched, face large odds, HO'd, , etc etc.

I've played for long periods in two other online sims - Red Baron and Fighter Ace - you are never going to find the perfect sim - there are always things that are wrong - having said that it's a lot more fun than vs the ai any day of the week.

Sandman,  Flying with Hellgods has been awesome,  They are great people to fly with and, when it was looking life my wife was going to be shipped to Iraq, they were there for me when I was being a complete salamander about things.  If that doesn't denote a tight squad, I don't know what does...

In my case it's not the people, everyone with the exception of two or three, have been great.   It's the Returning to base with a flight of undamaged b17 and 3 kills only to get shot down by your own freaking ack.  Another for instance is, One plane gets destroyed and the damage carries over into the next plane.  Granted flying against real people is phenominal and only adds to the fun but when the mechanics of the game get under your skin it's time to call it a day.
