Just what does "asl" stand for? I see it in punchlines on many bash.org quotes and I can't figure it out.

man I have to broaden my date horizons
I am so sick of starting dates off with "are you a cop" and ending it with "do you take visa"
could be worse
they could start with "asl" and end with /ignore

'asl' = Age/Sex/Location?

Commonly used by child molesters and frustrated teens trying to find nearby members of the desired sex to mate with.

Thanks. I am glad I asked. My company is testing a Jabber-based IM client and it comes with some smilies similar to this BBS. One of them is a question mark with "ASL" under it. I wonder if anyone knows what it means.
