Hewlett-Packard Ousts CEO Carly Fiorina

And the IT gods rejoice........

Ive never liked her at the helm of HP (some may say bias due to her gender, but not so..) because i found it silly a advertising head was the business skills nucleus at the top of a IT innovator..

IMO anyone who partners with Comcrap (compaq) thinking they get some kind of value is demented or naive... (comcrap has one product and one product only and thats its proliant server line. everything else they do is crap..)  Then the details of the merger surfaced and both Carly and the head of comcrap got ludacris bonuses for completing the merger..  Mr. Hewlett noticed this too and hence the proxy wars for people's votes began...  Mr. Hewlett lost...  and the rest is history..

They now have been bogged down by a merger (Mr. Hewlett precogged this) and hence have been losing market share to streamlined companies like dell , EMC, IBM / Hitachi etc.. for the server shares they used to have.  There home pc  market has suffered too due to the price war with dell and others.. (HP has always charged a premium for their machines so when price war hit they got crushed) I saw the writing on the wall a long time ago.. advertising head..  computers.. wtf...

hopefully now HP will go back to its oldschool niche market which used to be innovation.. (some of their printers are nice too..)

She was offered the option to resign immediately.  :D

I too just shook my head when the Compaq deal was final.  Just what were they thinking?

The HP-Compaq deal was second to only the AOL-Time/Warner merger as the most retarded business desisions of the last 10 years.

She would still have the job is she had taken the time to come by office and chat.  :)

Whats odd is how the rumor chain really didn't see this one in advance.  I wonder how long beofre they spin off the Printer division and make the PC end stand on its own?

Can anyone think of a great, successful merger that really did what was promised?

Were the details of Fiorna's severance package released?   I'm sure it'll be mind-numbing, esp. given her performance.
