I remember a show called The Young Ones which was pretty good.

Red Dwarf, too.

The Office is just about the funniest show I've ever seen. Right after Extreme Elimination Challenge of course :)

Coupling was a direct Brit version of Friends, only funnier. Oddly enough there will be an American version of Coupling on NBC this fall following Friends.

Now for something completely different, how could you forget Monty Python? Fools and Horses is good, but I liked Open All Hours much better. G-G-G-Granville, fetch your cloth!

The funniest Britcom I have ever seen is Father Ted!

Coupling wants to be Friends - it's an unashamed copy. Has it's moments, like Friends, but I don't really like either.

My list:

1) Fawlty Towers - superbly written and casted - only 12 episodes but every one a gem especially the Waldorf Salad episode:

"I think we're out of Waldorfs..."

2) Father Ted - surreal in the extreme. Easily the best sitcom to come out of Britain since Fawlty Towers. The episodes where Father Ted has to kick Bishop Brennan up the arse are my favourites.

3) Blackadder Goes Forth
War! Never been so much fun. War! Never been so much fun! Go to your brother, Kill him with your gun, Leave him lying in his uniform, Dying in the sun.

The older stuff like

Open all Hours
Blackadder
Allo Allo
Monty Python
The Young Ones
Bottom
A bit of Fry and Laurie

are all excellent but I think too many watchings are making them wear thin.

But the Office is absolutely brilliant!

There are things that I will never laugh at. The handicapped - because there’s nothing funny about them. Or any deformity. …At least the little handicapped fella is able minded… or sometimes not - it’s difficult to tell with the wheelchair ones.

There’s good news and bad news. The bad news is Neil will be taking over both branches and some of you will lose your jobs… On a more positive note the good news is I’ve been promoted - so every cloud… you’re still thinking about the bad news aren’t you?

and of course Red Dwarf still demands repeated viewings...

Theres an emergency going on....it's still going on...

I almost forgot Good Neighbors (aka The Good Life). That show had one of the most talented casts on TV. I loved the premise of Tom quitting his job to live off the land and be self sufficiant(altho all the land he had was his house in an upscale Suburban neighborhood)plus I had a thing for Felicity Kendall.:D
