Video setting problem? Please help!
« on: August 04, 2003, 10:10:04 PM »
Ok guys here is my problem, I hope you can help me out.
I have a Dell 8100 Lap Top that I use every once in a while to play AH on when i am Feeling lazy and dont want to sit at the desk. I have 512 MB of Ram and a Gforce2 32mb ram Vid card. Everything worked great and the little old lap top ran the game just fine. I had decided it was time to do a format on my Hard Drive to clean everything up and start fresh. Big mistake as far as the game goes. I can get in and run the game just fine. But if I try to go the the desk top and come back into the game, the game display will not work properly. This was not a problem before. I had been able to go in and out of the game just fine and never had to tweek or play with the Vid settings once to get the game to run good. This time around it is not so easy it seems. I dont know what else to try here. I have gone through just about every config you can imagine as far as game video settings go and comp settings go. I had DirectX8 before and still do. I stayed with this driver because it worked fine in the past and figured it would work fine now. I thought maybe going to DirectX9 would help my problem.... No luck there either. I am completly out of ideas here guys and am hoping that someone can give me a hand here on this. Maybe there is somthing as far as settings or configurations I am over looking. I dont know at this point what that would be but anythings posible at this point. Any help here would be much apreciated!

Set your desktop res and color depth to match the game. That worked for me when I had the prob (ages ago..)

Other fix might be to use the refresh rate fix - at least in my case the screen corruption was caused by altering refresh.

On XP some have reported no corruption after disabling palettized textures in AH video menu.

Just a note really, make sure that you have the Dell drivers. I've had a couple of Dell laptops that didn't work well without using the drivers that are on the dell website...
