His image is tarnished, that's going to cost him alot of money. The NBA also loses where it uses him to market it's product. Innocent or guilty isn't going to change that.

Kobe Bryant trusts his instincts. He plays on his own terms. He's passionate.  The message of the commercials: Everyone can accomplish great things if they are true to themselves."Kobe as a player and a person has so many qualities that mirror what we think Sprite is all about," says Sara Schmid, advertising manager for Sprite.  "He understands that he is more than a spokesperson. He has embraced the mantra 'Obey Your Thirst."

I'm no nba fan.  when I watch basket ball all I see is 'run, run run, shoot, run run run, shoot,.......'.  seems a boring sport and never interested me.

but purely on an inocent/guilty level,  I gotta be suspiciouse of a girl claiming she was raped in a guys hotel room.  there are exceptions (tyson). but at some point you gotta wonder where she thought the evening was headed when she went back to his room.

he obviously fluffied up.  thinking with the wrong head and all.  but we'll have to see how the trial plays out to know if it was criminal.

being married is more expensive than being single, but being married and acting single is the most expensive of all.

Somehow I doubt this is the first female besides hit wife that he's had in his hotel room.

So going into the room means she can't say no? That doesn't give him the green light to force himself on her. I guess her being in the room just means you can get away with it.

Um... sixpence... where you in that room?

Nobody is saying she did or did not say no when the time came.  None of us were there.  All we have to go on is the likeliness of her saying no then.  Because, when it comes down to it... its her word against his and your attitude is one of the reasons situations like this occur.

If she said no in the apartment as they were laying in bed, she said it about 5 times too late.  She should have said no after dinner.  She should have said no at the cab, she should have said no before entering the apartment.  The penalty for her stupidity is that a possible rapist won't go to jail.  Not all victims are innocent... and it sickens me that a situation such as this gets billing over a woman attacked in her home or outside of her car... one that never said yes in any way shape or form.

While all the noble Kobe fans are pointing fingers at the girl for "going back to his room, my god did'nt she know what would happen?" Did any of you bother to find out she was a concierge for the hotel and was on duty? It was her job to enter guests rooms and attend to their requests. That did not include forced sex. Does Colorado still make inmates wear pink?

no it doesn't mean that she can't say no.

it does make you wonder what her intentions where for the night though.  it leaves open the question of if it went down like she said.

did she go there to the room where she knew he was alone and away from home to say good-bye there instead of out in the hall?  maybe she intended to stay over and just sleep on the floor without sex?  maybe she intended to have sex with him and black-mail him (pay me off or I report this as rape).  many questions you have to consider.  and as I said before we'll have to see how the trial plays out to know if he did anything criminal.

MY GOD! THEN HE MUST HAVE DONE IT!  At least every seems to think he has already.

I believe some are simply saying you don't know **** other than what one person is saying.  That may or may not be true.  Of course, we can already put someone in jail, automatically believe the girl because she must be telling the truth and then just get on with finding someone else to vilify.

If she worked at the hotel, she knew the ins and outs of being a concierge... and dealing with locked doors.  Things just aren't adding up.

So she deserved it for going into the room? No is no, no matter what time it is. Let me give you an example. Dave megget(football player for the Patriots) is having sexual intercourse with a woman. During the act, the condom broke and she told him to stop. He wouldn't, and kept going as she fought to get free. Is that a crime? Sure is, and he is charged with sexual assault.

Sixpence - I think what mini is saying is that she should have said no earlier. That doesn't mean she doesn't have the right to say no at any point afterwards, or that she "deserved it" (assuming that she did get raped). But she should have said no earlier.

I think it's part of being an adult and using common sense when it comes one's own safety. Ultimately, she shoulda realized that going up to some guy's hotel room at night or jumping into bed with him was putting herself in a vulnerable situation if it wasn't her intention to have sex with the guy. It's too bad it's that way and if she did get raped, that sucks, obviously. But, ya know... there it is.

Even though it's the least you'd expect to hear from a DA when charging someone, this still sure does sound ominous: "Eagle County District Attorney Mark Hurlbert filed the charge after spending two weeks reviewing evidence and consulting with other prosecutors, and said he "can prove this case beyond a reasonable doubt."

Well, I think we can all agree that at the age of 19, we didn't use alot of common sense( like jumping of a cliff into a reservoir, just to name one ). Also, this wasn't some sleazy motel in New York. I believe it was a resort(and a pretty plush one at that) and the girl worked there. But the bottom line is that our opinion on what she should have done is not the point. When a woman says no, you stop. And if you don't, it's sexual assault.

Now i'm not saying he did force himself on her, but if he did, it's sexual assault, no matter when she said no.
