Gunnery: Online vs. OffLine
« on: July 25, 2003, 05:41:59 PM »
I need to practice my "snap"  and "lead" shooting. The MA is not the best place. So Offline I go. The question being, how much difference is there in the offline environment gunnery opposed to the MA gunnery?

I have noticed at times in the MA I will get significant sprites and the con will fly on with no damage. But offline, sprites = dead drone every time. I'm currrently flying the P47D-25 exclusivly in the MA with 8 .50's selected.

This is like the old joke that voters are harsher to their beer brewer if he has an outage, than their politicians after raising their taxes. Death and taxes are certain but, fun and sex is only now.

I don't know if the connection (connected or not) has anything to do with gunnery, but your Offline lethality settings may be different than the MA.

If your connections has high packet loss, I believe it's possible your hit data won't make it to the server when playing online.  i.e. "Rubber bullets."  Maybe check your connection next time you're online.

Check lethality settings, as Dux said.

Also possible you're just not aiming as well when your target isn't flying in lazy circles at 200mph.  You have to get a good number of hits in the same spot with .50s to do lethal damage.  It's possible to rake a target from wingtip to wingtip and not do anything, whereas half the ammo applied to a single point on the enemy would snap a wing off.
