SABRE - radio check
« on: July 22, 2003, 08:40:17 PM »
Sabre, I'm not sure if my contact info for you is up to date, but I'll try emailing you about this tomorrow.

I've been in touch with some of the guys at USAFA and they're interested in reviving the Raptors.  However, I think they need the same helpful nudge in the right direction that you gave us when we first got started.

If I got you in touch with Puma and SpinDoc, do you think you might be able to help them out on-site?  Their major problem is getting the firewall hole opened up again (and maybe finding a more supportive OIC).

Thanks.

Hi, Preon.  We'll of course, I'm at their service.  I've been out of town since last Wednesday (I got home Monday at 0-dark hundred), and my cable modem was out for a week before that.  That's why you didn't hear from me.  We were trying to get something going back at the beginning of the year, but it didn't work out.

I think the most important thing is to find an officer up at the Academy who's genuinely interested in helping this along, to be a sponsor on the "inside" as it were.  Frankly, my own impression on the reason the Raptors went extinct is because we never managed to take AH out of the wargaming club and make it a club of it's own.  That has to be the main goal if we're going to resurrect it.  If we can identify a faculty member up on the Hill who we can sell this idea to, either in the military history department or the 34th Ed. Grp., we'll have a chance to make it happen.  Most of the folks on the faculty I knew up there are gone, so Puma or SpinDoc need to figure out who to sell this to.  I will be happy to help in any way I can, from presenting briefings to arranging demos.  I had dinner with Bob Shaw at the Con, and could probably help to arrange another guest visit from him as well.  We just need a plan, and the cadets need to decide what direction they want to take this.  My contact info should still be good, btw.

Regards,
Sabre
