Will the release of 1.05 be the largest update so far ?
« on: October 24, 2000, 07:07:00 AM »
Now, will it ?

I mean, with a couple of new planes, new terrain(We will need that when we get the ships), and several surface types, MTB, Carrier, destroyer and more.(At least I hope for this)
That certainly will make it the biggest uppgrade until now, and probably the best one too

Sadly my real life has lately interfered alot on my AH flying, but now when we`re heading for winter I really hope i can get my flying time up again.

So as normal, I just cant wait for the release to be here, but in the meantime, perhaps we could get some more info on the developement of things, and maybe a pic or two     ?

Hmm, maybe we also could get a couple of "landing boats"(lack of better word) , you know, those they landed in normandie in, so we can get the tanks and trucks across the sea, that would be really nice, big scale invation in AH

You smell that? Do you smell that?
Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
The smell, you know that gasoline smell, smelled like victory.

Heya Lasse,
Landing craft are apparently part of V1.05, however they are tenativly being used to transport troops to ocean side airfields for capture.

Its probably the biggest change made to the game so far.  Its bitter-sweet.  On one side it means it may be a bit until the next upgrade is out.  On the other, it means one hell of an up grade.

If HT and gang were to finish the two new planes, maybe the could release an interum patch to let us familiarize ourselves with them until the fleet arrived.

Also.. if HTC could set up a mock carrier surface in the TA for practice landings.. that would be cool too.

<Drool>, The more I hear about this, the cooler it sounds. We'll be doing good to get this thing before Christmas. I bet drawing up all those ships/boats will take a while, not to mention everything else that will have to be done.

Anybody know what version of WB's it was that the fleet was deplyoed? Bet it was some fun times, even though they were much more primitive than what we're getting, I'm sure it was a big deal back then.

It was just before it went pay-to-play.  Can't remember what version.. I just remember trying to land a hookless p-38 on the deck (repeatedly).

Hmmm.. now that I think about it more.. I don't know for sure that it was there before it went pay-to-play.

Hehe, those were the days.

I remember landing B-25's on the CV. <G>  Doolittle in reverse.  Actually, if I remember right, there was a Scenario Light or something that tried to re-create the Doolittle raid.

And then there is always the "Fast Carriers" SL when my squad mate Snak was the CO.  When asked what the plan was he said:

"Defense is boring.  Everyone attack!"

LOL.  It was a blast.  I look forward to these great little scenarios that carrier ops will allow.

Landing craft THAT was the word I where looking for   thx, Ripsnort.

I started flying WB in Ver.1 R.05(Hmm AH 1.05 coming up  ) and then the carriers where there, so it has to be before that time.

Anyway carrier\task force at sea will bring alot to the game, and if there is anything I miss, that is it.

Some of my coolest memories are from defending or attacking the CV in WB, and in here I am shure it will be even cooler  ,Just you wait and see !(Guess we will have to wait anyway   )

To the HTC crew :
Could you possibly post a picture from the developement, and or some additional info on what`s going on ?

Please

It would be more nice if, like lasse mentions, that the landing crafts housed vehicles. You would then choose the landing craft in the hangar/harbour and select for instance an M16 as ordinance. Once you then lower the ramp, you will be able to drive the vehicle up on the beach.

Oh well, just letting out some dreams.

That was a great idea LLv34_Snefens, that way you could drive your own landing craft with `your` vehicle inside, instead of needing another person only to do the boring part, while you sits in your tank, or whatever and are equally bored while otw target area.

When the boat hits the shores you lower the gate and jumps onboard your tank, then you enter the enemy territory with blazing guns, hirr hirr hirr.
ok..ok, I`ll calm down, but damn that would be cool

Hope this is within reach of what is possible to get in 1.05.

Unless HTC guys has other plans of course

PS !
I just noticed,Ripsnort you have 3995 posts THIS year...WOW !!

Ha, driving an LCM ain't boring.

They have twin .50 cal MG's

There's also LCS with mortars, rockets, 76mm guns, 40mm and 20mm ack...(mostly armored PT boats)

We really need DUKW's for troop transport.

That way, it would work much more like an M3...and you can drive it just like a normal 2 1/2 ton truck one you hit the beachs (and you get yer .50 cal )

The deployment ship could serve as the "sea hanger" with launchs from the hull doors or spawns in the bay

Oh ya, LVT's would be nice too. Not as fast at the DUKW's but better armor (and 75mm FH, 37mm GP gun, and multiple AAMG options   )
