A Really Fine Whine
« on: July 29, 2003, 06:56:42 AM »
Hey... This is my first official whine thread, but here are two things that deserve a whine. So, here goes:

1) Guys who think they own the prox radio channel.

What is with this? They jabber on and on, annoying us all with minute details about what they are doing, what they are thinking of doing and what they should have done. Everything from power settings to giving us a play-by-play analysis of the current furball.

They must think they are talk radio hosts and we want to hear about their every thought. Sheesh

2) Guys who say everything twice. Guys who say everything twice.

Now what the heck is up with this disturbing trend? Now what the heck is up with this disturbing trend?

"Bogey at your 2 o'clock low! Bogey at your 2 o'clock low!"
"Where is the bogey? Where is the bogey?"
"At your 2 clock low! At your 2 o'clock low!"
"I'm on on the vh now. I'm in on the vh now."
"Do you see him? Do you see him?"
"No, I don't see him. No, I don't see him."
"Is the town dead? Is the town dead?"
"Who has troops? Who has troops?"
"Town is dead. Town is dead."
"Troops are out. Troops are out."

The truely annoying add an "I repeat" before telling us what they just told us.

"The town is dead. I repeat, the town is dead."

It's getting tedious. I repeat, it's getting tedious...

yeah can be annoying sometimes i agree  :)

but..  look at it this way, at least players are communicating with each other, and you should feel blessed if you hear:

'fullback check 6, i repeat fullback check 6'

doesn't happen often :)

8 out 10 for this whine.

The combination of humour and the fact that I agree wholeheartedly makes it a fine whine indeed.

I never give 10 out of 10...and a 9 was considered...but it is Tuesday.  If you would have posted this on a Friday I would have given it a 9.;)

9.5 out of 10 based on style, control, damage & agression.

Ooops thats Robot wars not BBS whines.

9.5 for an interesting flavor, good nose,
and a delightfully smooth texture.

btw, .squelch gameid turns off both text & vox.  :)

Sorry, I'm only rating this a charitable 8.

4 for originality (never heard this whine before) and 4 for presentation and style.

I can see why some guys would repeat themselves. Two reasons come to mind (a) their transmission is "stepped on" by another broadcaster and (b) they have lousy microphones.

As for the prox radio dj syndrome, I know of only 1 player that does this, but I ain't gonna name names. ;)

I'm afraid I must disagree with this even qualifying as a whine.

First of all, the post bears far too high of a degree of truth to be a whine.

Secondly, the delivery was humorous and benign, lacking the necessary anger required to qualify as whining.

All in all, a most enjoyable post which I too, agree with wholeheartedly.

.... and there was no "I quit" threat included. So you have to figure that in too.

I would pay another .25/month to have separate volume sliders for Range and Tuned channel.  :)

Hey.. HT... ever thought of priced options? Heck, I'd give $1/month for a tractor beam to hold Drex steady in the pipper.

There will be no more humorous social banter labeled as an official whine from this point forward.
Dis aint no steeenking whine! :D
We had one guy that had the double everything you say deal beat all to hell . He had reverb and echoe set for vox. Cracked me up everytime I heard him.
We have a guy on Bish now that`s been playing a couple of months that must have the vox controls maxed out. On top of this his level of excitement and volume of his voice increases in proportion to the number and proximity of the nearest enemy contacts.
You can be calmly tooling along when out of the blue comes......." NME SPIT AT 2 O`CLOCK. nme SPIT COMING IN GUYS. GET THE SPIT. KILL THE SPIT. DO YOU SEE THE SPIT GUYS. KILL THAT SPIT. SPIT-SPIT-SPIT...................." on vox, all that the point of distortion level.
I have installed a seatbelt on my puter chair to use when I noticed he is logged on. I also have all the paneling nails super glued .:D
Note: Players id withheld, but it has an "3d" on the end of it.:D

Now that we've got this settled, can we have a squelch for the guys on vox who's balls have not dropped yet?

You know who you are. If you can sing soprano without much effort...shaddup!

Litmus test....look down your shorts...if you don't have hair on it yet, pipe down!:D

What cracks me up is the guys who scream "...XXX at 2 o'clock!!! XXX at 2 o'clock!!!"

Do they think everybody is facing exactly the same way as them??? :D
