Errrrrr...My bad!!! I thought this was just about TOD... My original post was for TOD only not the Classic. I will make sure to be more specific the next time. I just thought it would be a good idea for TOD not the MA.

yup, if you take the N1K2's and the spits away youll loose like 300 people to another sim... no more n00b planes... no more easy targets... no more fun.... no more money for HTC....NO SIM

Hey, come on! I know it looks hard to get by without our favourite planes but it's only temporary and balances better the arenas, truly, I've been there, believe me. A fight between Hurricanes and early 109's is almost balanced. And between Spits and later 109 versions, I say, there's much in the pilot skill and general situation...
What I mean is: it's not very immersive - or logical - to engage in a furball that, modelwise, mixes A6M2's, 109's, Spit 1's, Tiphoons, FW190D's and the odd 163...come on...only if you're there only for the fun. And it's very rewarding to fight opponents flying aircraft of the same generation or close.
This has been a long debated issue, but it worked well in the passed in other online sims...
I don't want to make a fuss about this, afterall, most of the times, I go with the flow...so, just my two cents. Sorry if I annoyed you.

The planes may have parity, the numbers on each side never would.

This thread is just the latest example of why AH2 Forums has always needed to be split into separate AH2 Classic and AH2 TOD forums.  Mixing the two has caused most of the arguments about AH2.

If it's a mistake by anyone, it's by the posters here. HT never created a seperate AHII:Classic forum because none is needed ... since AHII:Classic and AH:Classic are really the same thing. Expect nothing added to Classic except eye candy.

It's good to see feedback from each player. I respect the opinion of any serious enthusiast and also enjoy a good laugh. A little heated discussion effectively cuts through the fluff anyway.

I fully support a rolling planeset. A rolling planeset enhances the setting for each TOD campaign, adding to immersion and keeping the plot in focus.

It will also force me get out of my comfort zone and learn a new plane.

The following excerpt from an interview with Pyro at "simhq" appears to suggest that a rolling planeset appropriate for the scenario has already been planned for TOD.

"A 'War' will run through a number of linked campaigns. Each campaign will last for a certain amount of time, say two weeks, before advancing to the next campaign. Each campaign advances the timetable of the war with the appropriate equipment and territorial changes. After the War is finished, a new one is begun in a different theater. Each War is theater specific so if a War starts in the Pacific, all campaigns for that War will remain in the PTO.

I can hardly wait. It's gonna be awesome. :D
