Throttle Question
« on: August 01, 2003, 06:11:02 PM »
Ok so I've decided to give AH a try and dust off some old stuff I had laying around from AW days.  I have this old ch throttle with 12 programmable buttons and a Sidewinder Precision 2 with of course has a throttle on it.  Thing is, I don't want to use the throttle on the Sidewinder but I'm not seeing how I get around it.

I went into Settings Joystick selection.  All I see there is my Sidewinder and Mouse.  Should I be seeing my other throttle as well? Any suggestions you might have is greatly appreciated.

Hrmm it's not looking like it.  I'm looking under Device Manager under Sound, Video, and Game Controllers..all that is there is:

Creative SB Live
Gameport fo Creative SB Live
HID - compliant Game Controller

Also under Human Interface Devices I have:

USB Human Interface Device

Anyway, that is what i have under device manger but in control panel under Gaming Options I have my Sidewinder Precision 2 listed there.  If I try to change it says it has to be removed from the device manager.  Its all very funky.

Why wouldn't my throttle be showing up?  I know its connected and working, atleast I know I can map keys to it.  I'm pretty newbish when it comes to peripherals.

What's it showing in game controllers unser control panel?

Is the throttle usb?

Just installed 1 w/msffb pro(original) and it says you have to install control manager software for it too work.

I installed sw anyways and all is well in AH.

Actually uninstalled the sw, and still works in AH.

Make sure the throttle shows up in control panel/gaming options.

It's CH's programming sw. You can get it here:
CM SW

But like I said, I uninstalled it and windows and AH sees it fine.

When you unplug it and plug it in, does it find the new device?

Also, you havn't mentioned if the throttle is usb or gameport, makes a world of difference.

Then you'll need to get the drivers for it.

yes, if it plugs into your soundcard then its a gameport device.

the ch control manager sw doesn't work w/gameport, i believe

Ok I'll try to locate the drivers I guess.  I have the disk that came with the Throttle and I installed it so I don't know what else to really do.  I'll go to a CH site maybe and see what I can see.  Thanks a bunch for the help.

Edit: Ok after looking at the CH site I noticed something that said that Gameport and USB don't mix so maybe the problem is that I'm using a USB (Sidewinder JS) with Gameport (Throttle).  Oh well, looks like I gotta use that stupid throttle on the SW.
