Forget the Pony....You might have a shot at a Stearman.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

For the heck of it I figured it out once...

If someone GIVES you a P51 Mustang..."done"

With west coast prices including Annual inspection, maintanence, hanger fees, insurance and all the rest taking for granted no repairs or maintanence will be done by you, using 20 hours of flight time a month as an average, it will cost you..

Approximately 50K a year.

If you get fifty guys..

AND find someone to give you one...

That works out to 4.8 hours per person minus the checkout in a 51 which is probably over 10 thousand dollars PER person..

So...

For fifty guys being GIVIN a 1.5 million dollar airplane the individual outlay would be in the neighborhood of 11 thousand dollars a piece intitial, 1 thousand dollars a year for 4.8 hours flight time NOT including the cost of remaining "current" in the aircraft...

4.8 hours ain't gonna cut it for that...

That is the ugly truth Muck..

I've taken the liberty of removing all the ammunition from your house..

Next question ?

But to dream ?? http://www.courtesyaircraft.com

I'd take the Albatross for 349K...

Then it off to Alaska.
