Don't be Afraid of the Dark
« on: November 14, 2003, 11:19:12 AM »
All this talk of the nighttime reminds me of one of my favorite Robert Cray tunes. Check the lyrics:cool:

**************************************

Artist: Robert Cray Band
Title: Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark

Dead of night, baby
We're finally alone
I'll pull down the shades
If you unplug the phone

Put on some music
Marvin Gaye's real nice
Once we get settled
I'll turn out the lights

(CHORUS)
Don't be afraid of the dark
Don't be afraid of the dark
I'll be there to hold you
Don't be afraid of the dark

It might be scary
Until your eyes adjust
Don't fear the shadows
Me, you can trust

I'm at my best
In a pitch black room
Hold on tight, baby
You'll feel the power soon

(CHORUS)

I'll be there to hold you
Don't be afraid of the dark

You might tremble
You might shake
Scream out loud
You may even break

I know which moods
Suit you right
You'll beg for more
You'll forget about the night

Don't be afraid of the dark
Baby, no, no
I'll be there to hold you
Don't be afraid of the dark

I'll be there to hold you
Don't be afraid of the dark, no, no

Don't be afraid of the dark
Baby, no, no
I'll be there to hold you
Don't be afraid of the dark
I'll be there to hold you
Don't be afraid of the dark

Hey, baby
Baby, no no no
Please, baby
I'll be there to hold you
Don't be afraid of the dark

This one was taken from "Memories  of a Luftwaffe Fighter Pilot"

During my second attack my aircraft shudered ... I was hit !!! Oil blinded me ..I try again to clean my canopy .. no luck !!! Oh God ...it was so dark.. so terribly dark .. calm down .. my engine was running somewhat roughly , but its power and instruments  were all right .. hopefully my engine would  keep running until I reach our lines .. Oil was flowing everywhere .. it turned to smoke whenever it hit hot metal . Alone and darkness everywhere  ... Suddenly my oil pressure dropped away to zero ; there was a loud noise , and a long flame came out from under the cowling ...Somehow I was happy to see light ...The hot metal began to crackle ... things looked bad . I was too low to bail out and had too little speed to climb ... Ahead was some flat  ground ... Suitable for a crash landing ?? Who knows .. It began to get real hot in the cockpit ...Here I go , crashing ... unfortunately the landing site had some holes .. one wing broke off , and the engine likewise ...the hot ammunition started to go off and I had to hit the ground as soon as stop  .. final bounce and a sudden stop .. just as I emerged the flames start reaching the gas tank ... I was pick up by a panzer .. the crew had witnessed the crash ... They never thought  I was going to be alive and  walking ... A half an hour later an army Volskwagen reach us ... by early morning I was back in Nordhom ..

This is what we can call " Living on the edge "
