Westy?  17fps?  what you running for a system?

I'm running an AMD 1900+ with a GF4 Ti4200 and seeing 80fps with gfx sliders at halfway in Target Flanders...

Perhaps its a configuration issue, as I certainly don't have a high end pc..

Downloaded it, flew a bit offline. Terrain looked like ass, Planes looked like 1996, map makes no sense, nothing to shoot at. Tried to get online....first 5 tries it keeps telling me that it failed to load some plane physics file. Finally get past that, next 10 tries it tells me that it failed to load some Fokker III .tga file.  I give up and disconnect, notice there are exactly 0 people on the server.

Calling it beta is a bit optimistic IMO. Unless you are using WWIIOL as your reference point. YMMV

TR defaults to 640x480 resolution.  You have to run the config program to set it for something a little more up to date.

The one area where TR is very lacking is with the whole setup interface.  It would be nice if they at least included the config icon in the TR folder.

I went in and edited the config file to 1024x768 32bit. Didn't help.

Read the Targetware BBS, finally managed to figure out how to get onto the server without getting a network error message. Maxed out the graphics, still looks dated. Flew a bunch of practice hops. Flight model seems pretty good. Don't know about the combat aspect, it's pretty unclear what you have to do to get onto the frontline server. Game might have potential, but it's a long ways away.

Hiya Skurj, and AMD 2400+ but with a GF2 64mb GTS.  I now know the bottle neck (with Targetware) is the GF2.
I plan on getting a much better GFX later this year.  I'll revisit T:K/R/F then.  I can't justify buying a $100plus vidcard to test the beta. Considering when everything else I've beta'd recently, or play online, runs and looks like a dream in comparison. Thanks for asking though!

Raub, you gotta select "Play Online" then connect to the training arena. In there, you need to demonstrate your ability to takeoff and land safely in two different planes. Then the trainers will pat you on the back, punch your ticket to the front line, and send you on your way.

Hint for everyone:

To take off in the Bleriot, hit ' twice, then E. The ' will set your mixture to rich, and E will start the engine.

Apply full right rudder before you start rolling, then let up as you roll. Let the Bleriot take off without you hauling on the stick. As soon as it lifts off, point the nose slightly downward to pickup speed. Once you get to about 40 tas then you can start to climb a bit.

Heh, there were exactly 0 people on the training server when I was flying. I had my own approval :)

What's up with that map? It's about as useless as SOB.

The map isn't done yet. Actually, there's a lot that isn't done yet. But didn't you like the FM? I thought it gave a very good sensation of flight.

Try bringing the E-III in for a landing. No throttle, so you have to blip the engine on & off just right to maintain your glide slope. Pretty challenging stuff!

Raub, I'll be the first one to say that we have the worst graphics around, but we have the best gameplay, FM and DM.  Our planes are nice though.

Let me also say that I don't see TF replacing AH for me, and I'm the bloody designer!  TF is a VERY different experience from AH, and there is room for both.

Be on the training server tonight, We'll get you certified for Front Line duty server in no time.

That's actually how I had to fly AH for the first year.  I didn't have a throttle and mapped two buttons on my stick for full power and idle power and that's how I would fly/fight.  It's really not so hard, though maybe much more difficult in Flanders.  Was kinda fun actually.
Sounds like a good game though I'm looking forward to the Korea mod and am interested in Verm's Vietnam.

Got to your targetware directory and you will see a file named TW_Config.exe, run the exe and it will let you change the resolution etc.

Yep, thanks, figured that out after a while last night. At first I was just editing the config text file.

I'll hop on the training server tonight and try to pass my test heh.
