Fun at the movies...
« on: August 08, 2003, 06:33:05 AM »
So the wife and I were sitting there enjoying, if you could say that, American Wedding (don't waste your money).  About 15 mins. into the movie the couple behind us and to the left started talking.  And I don't mean in hushed tones, I mean loud enough to equal the movie.  This goes on for a while.  Then their infant starts crying.  This goes on and off for the next hour, talking and crying.  Then guess what?  They must being eating something in one of those really thick plastic packages, "crackle crackle crackle" going along with the talking and the crying.  Why is it everytime that I go to the movies there are some idiots that have no respect for others that are there to enjoy the movie, that they think that they have exclusive rights to the movie experience.  Usually you can expect some noise and most of the time is does go away on thier own.  But over the last couple of years it seems to get worse and worse.  Its to the point where I will wait until the movie comes out on DVD and then I will enjoy it in the privacy of my home.  Anyone else feel this way?

did you say something?

"hey, you mind shutting up, we paid about $30 to see this movie, I'd like to hear it too" usually works fairly well.

but ya, I hear what your saying.  I'm not sure if it really has become worse, or if I'm just more intolorant of it because at the price you pay these days the 'movie experience" should be damned near perfect

I would say something but these days you never know what you are getting into.  I'd rather go home in a pissed mood than get into an altercation at the movies and maybe have to get bailed out of jail.  Not worth the $12 I spent on a PoS movie.

I thought you were such a tough guy though?  Surley you weren't going to let that liberal panty waste get away with ruining your movie experience?  I mean...in the good old days that would have warrented a serious bellybutton kicking.;)

That's why I never go over to my mom's to watch football games.  She wants to ask me how things are going and I just want to watch the game.

Diablo, it's simple. Just walk out and demand your money back. Explain to the Manager they failed to provide a quality experience by not having Ushers there to remove the loudmouths and you plan to contact AMC (or whatever corporate chain it is). It works every time. You will usually get back the ticket price PLUS passes to another movie. Local Managers are scared to death of Corporate receiving complaints, it kills their bonus.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.
