Let's say that your terrain is named "MattMap".

You need to make your clipboard map a 1024x1024 BMP image with an 8-bit color depth (indexed color). Name this file "MattMap.bmp".

Inside your AHeditor/Terrains/MattMap folder you need to have another folder called TEXSRC. This is where you would put all of your modified skins, custom tiles, and other graphic items that you want to build into your terrain. If this folder does not exist already, you will need to create it.

Place your MattMap.bmp file into your AHeditor/Terrains/MattMap/TEXSRC folder.

Launch the editor and open the MattMap.oba file.

"Build" your terrain. Quit out of the editor.

Drag the new MattMap.res file from the AHeditor/Terrains folder into the AcesHigh/Terrains folder.

Launch AH and check out the new clipboard map!

Hmmm, I think I just realized what you are REALLY asking about...

When you click "Build" in the editor, it makes (compiles) a file called MattMap.res (or whatever you named your terrain... look for the .res), and puts it in your AHeditor/Terrains folder. Take this file and move it into your AcesHigh/Terrains folder.

Launch Aces High in Offline mode. Go to Setup on the clipboard and click the Load Terrain button. Select your terrain from the list.

This will ONLY work in Offline mode. Only HTC-approved maps will appear on the Online Servers.

Matt,

While it may be true that nobody replies in the terrain editor forum: have you tried using the BBS search function to find what you are looking for?

When I was dabbling in Map creation, I found that 100% of the problems/questions I ran into had already been addressed in the forum, you just had to find it.

Good luck, I only made one terrain, but I had a blast, and I love that little ****er.

Sikboy has a good point... most newbie questions have been answered several times over in this forum. Also the Help file that comes with the Editor is a great source for learning; you just have to make sure you "stick with it" until it makes sense. Many of the things you'll do in the editor are not intuitive or easy, so you have to be patient with yourself.

In the future, name your posts something more meaningful than "need help"... you know, something specifically pertaining to your question, like "need help with loading my custom terrain"... this will help others when doing searches for previously covered topics.

And in the end, there's always somebody in here happy to help you. The TE is lots of fun, but it does have its price. Stick with it, and you'll be making MA maps before long!

and good luck.
