Did they have those fancy looking lights in WW2 ?  

What would be neat is if we could have some search light for AAA in fields. Looks cool in nights !

 Seriously westy,and it's not often that i am. A small dot or cross to show position would force us for the most part to use the gyro compass.Also keep the over size plane from covering cons.

How about a neat small amber (name escapes me at 5:30am) smoke pots?  They'd use them in black out conditions.

smudge pots I believe, normally used to keep fruit orchards from frosting.

 I'm all for that DBCoooper!! Using the "directional" airplane via the clipboard to stear a course, really should go. A dot or an X is what need. Let the pilot figure out what heading via the compass to make.

Fly the corsair...it has arrows on the wings and vertical stab. to show which way to go.
