The recent discussion about the best unit got me thinking.

I mean we all know when the RAF had theirs...but how about the others?

Some food for thought:

USMC -Guardalcanal, or Iwo Jima. Probably Guardalcanal because the war was in the balance.

US Army - Ardennes

Soviet Army -Stalingrad

Japanese Navy -Guardalcanal battles

Japanese Army -Okinawa

German Navy -Evacuation of Refugees from Prussia 45 (U-47 at scapa flow is a close second, but the kind of enormous sacrifice the German sailors showed in 45 is truly astounding)

German Army -Benelux+France or Seelowe heights+Berlin

Mexican Army - May 5th, 1862, the Mexican army defeats the French army at the Battle of Puebla proving that anyone can beat the French.  Although Napoleon did send an additional 30,000 troops and that eventually did march into Mexico City.

U.S. Navy at Midway.  It was a decisive victory against a superior force and essentially evened the scales after Pearl Harbor.
