MiniDV camcorder advice needed...

My JVC camcorder just went kaput. Looking for a replacement.

Any advice?

Important to me

    * small format (smaller the better)
    * both video and still pictures (1280x1024 or higher res)
    * USB interface
    * 1394 In and out
    * long life battery (my old camera lasted only 15-20 minutes. Had to buy a bulky extended battery)


I saw Canon Elura 50 and Optura 200 (seems much better), and Sony DCR-PC105. Any opinions?

It's not what you can call "small", but it fulfills all your other requirements.


Sony DCR-TRV60E

I use one of these and love it.

2 Mpix, pics up to 1600x1200 with surprisingly good quality for a video camera, DV in/out, USB connection, Analog A/V in/out...

not go with a Sony MicroMV format cam. If you ever want to do any kind of home video editing the MPEG format is not a good format to edit.

DV .avi is way better.

Not to mention the Sony MicroMV cams have other issues.

 Oh and once you get it (any of the sony DV cams rock, just stay away from MicroMV DCR-IPXXX) let me know and I can prolly hook you up with some video editing toys.
