P47 Films Request
« on: August 13, 2003, 02:01:32 AM »
Greetings & Salutations 1 & All :D

1st off I wish to extend kudos to this fine community in helping me obtain films of P38s & P51s plus help me in learning CVOPS
Takeoffs/Landings in the F6F & F4U.  Ur courtesies & assistance are truly appreciated :)

Now I request P47 FILMS(Training, ACM & Dueling Films) as I'm primarily
interested in "E" fights & BnZ.

I solicit ur assistance in this endeavor.  Thx  ;)

Cheers,

Happy1

I suggest next time you are up and see Frenchy on line - ask him
And whoever the final winner of the Frenchy award would probably be a good bet

Good Luck

Check out this website.  It's not P-47 specific but has a lot of information on BnZ attacks.  I'm not sure that I've seen many good P-47 BnZ films but honestly most BnZ attacks, regardless of plane, look the same.  The only difference in the case of the P-47 is that it carries 8 .50's, which can cut like a saw.

ManeTMP had a HUGE month in the P-47 last month.

Gentlemen/Ladies:

Thx much for ur responses, I was hoping that I'd get some input & films from the 56thfightergroup but alas 'twas not so. I found a
few films on the internet.

My question is on "Flap Usage" on the 47, is it similar to the 38?
Is dropping two (2) clicks of notches sufficient in a BnZ?  Besides
the Dive Flap, can any1 shed some light on this subject?

Thx people

Greetings YUCCA  :)

Thx much for the addys u mailed me to DL P47 films, I appreciate
ur kindness & help.

To answer ur query re flaps ..... No, I wouldn't use flaps whilst
BnZ'n, but prolly would use betwix 1-2 clicks of flaps in a dogfite,
but then, what do I know, I hardly know the P47 & that's what
prompted me to post this.

Am looking for info/advice in handling the P47 properly, such as
when do I use flaps, at what speeds & how many clicks of flaps in
combat?

In ur duels w/Frenchy, in merges, u prolly used flaps, that's the
type of info I'm searching for .... ur expertise.

Any assistance in this aspect would be most appreciated.

Cheers,

Happy1  :D

Haven't flown much lately.  Usually when i merge with someone i chop throttle and drop up to 3 clicks of flap during a turn.  I don't usually watch the airspeed when using flaps i just know when i need to use em :)
I'll tell your right now with a jug usually the only hope you have is to get them to overshoot.  Best way of doing that for me is to do a slow turn but it is a -G one.  What i mean is when you turn instead of pulling back on the stick you push.  Any way you do that slow -G turn when they about d900.  As they get closer like d600 tighten the turn alot.  If you haven't got much speed built up you might wanna hold down the K key to keep your nose trimmed up.  Then when they get like d500 pull back hard on that stick. Do maybe a 1/4 of a turn or an 1/8.
By this time he should just find out where you are and start turning towards you.  You should then right away pull up and roll over towards your enemy.  If you get up so that you're about to stall you lose that momentem and can basically use that heavy jug to fall straight down onto your opponent or his 6.
Another thing i do is to do a normal turn and make it tighter as they get closer then i chop throttle drop as much flap as possible while turning right very hard for maybe 1/4 a turn by then the guy should over shoot and you can turn back left use full throttle with flaps up and be on his 6.
These are just the ones that i can think of i do other ones that i don't even know of or can't explain lol :)
By the way dont be trying to get japp planes to overshoot in that jug just extend get a lil alt under ya then go back into the fight.  Also i wouldn't engage any yaks unless i had alt in a jug :)

Happy Flyin

Say Hey YUCCA  :D

WOW!! Thx much for the informative reply, there's certainly a lot to remember as to how to properly fly the 47 (by properly I mean
not being blown outta sky in the 1st min ... LOL).

OK now I've a rough idea as to how to handle it (P47) & my chances of survival in the arenas, certainly it's quite different from
flying the Spit9 in AW3,  only thing wrong with the Spit is its' low ammo load :(

Love the ammo in the Jugs & the Hogs plus the armor plating but
I certainly shall spend a lot of time in learning the 47's strengths,
weaknesses & nuances in flite, in the meantime I'll have to perfect my gunnery skills so as to make up for my short comings
in flite.

Thx likewise for ur recommendation that I make contact w/SFRT
Frenchy ... I DID a couple of days ago by emailing him in his profile
email, but have rec'd NO replies from him .... maybe he's busy?

Gratefully,

Happy1  :D
